Our Quality of Life
The Westside is growing, changing, and evolving. During this period of growth we need to be responsive and adaptive to our quality of life. We have too few parks, too few libraries, and too few resources. The Westside has only two regional parks, Mariposa and Paradise Hills, and soon to have a third in Ventana Ranch. We have only 1 library to service the entire Westside, the Taylor Ranch Branch library. In short we are in danger of becoming a bedroom community. Other issues that affect our quality of life are the increasing need of legislation that protects homeowners’ rights who belong to Homeowners’ Associations and a sound economic development strategy for the Westside. I will introduce legislation that protects homeowners and holds community management companies accountable. New Mexico currently does not have any laws in place that directly affects this issue. As our community changes so must our representation in Santa Fe.
Unlike our current representation I will make sure that our tax dollars stay in our community to increase our quality of life. (Are Westside tax dollars staying in our community?) As your State Legislator I will use Capital Outlay wisely within our district to build more parks and libraries.

Ground Breaking for the New Northwest High School

Thursday, 14 September 2006- During a late morning ceremony at the site of the new Northwest High School, many gathered to witness the ground breaking of the city's first high school in over twenty years.
Those in attendance were joyous that action is being taken, but were still aware that much work still needs to be done in regards to our school system. Cheryl Jorgensen, an active parent and member of the Bubble Gum Brigade was shocked to have not seen Antonio's opponent for the State House present at the ceremony. Many folks were disappointed and commented on the lack of responsiveness from their elected official on an issue as important as the construction of new schools.

As part of an ongoing project, Antonio is researching New Mexico State Legislature Outlay Requests sponsored by District 29's current representation to see where our money is being spent.
